Is it common for a state school to try to accept applicants from various schools in that state? For instance, I live in FL and of course would love to go to UF. Do they, or do they try to, accept a certain amount of students from FSU, UF, USF, UNF, UMiami, etc? I am sure there are tons of people in the state with similar stats and I could see them looking to even out the distribution.

I'm not so sure about that specifically. Of course they try to get a certain number of in staters and out of staters. It is very likely that they have some "favorite" schools. For instance, some colleges brag about a certain acceptance percentages to professional school. I'm not so sure that any school would say... Ok, lets accept 10 from FSU, 5 from UF, 7 from UMiami etc. I think that is a bit more unlikely. Though it may occur at some schools. If there is a college that generally graduates people with a higher GPA (aka an "easier" school), I think ADCOMs would generally be aware of this if they are coming from large state institutions.

unless you live in the state of GA. they don't even take applications unless you are from the state of ga. they accept students from colleges all over the country, but i would say 1/3 or more of a class is from UGA.

Yeah but UF accepts a majority of their students from Florida..the thing that got me thinking about this was, I saw someone with amazing stats get rejected from UF. They were from FSU. In the back of my head I can't help but think, maybe they already had a lot of students from FSU that they were planning on accepting. At the same time, I saw a person with okay/lower stats get in UF from UNF. That made me think that they were lacking students from that school, so maybe that worked toward that applicant's advantage.
