So, I got a mac a couple of months ago and recently found out that I need a computer running windows to be able to use some of the EMR software for my rotations. I now have to get a copy of Windows 7 professional to install on my mac - no problem right? Well, apparently it costs $300, which I can't afford. Shouldn't microsoft have student pricing? They do, but only if you are upgrading from a previous version of windows. I happen to have a copy of XP lying around, but apple does not allow XP to be installed on their new computers! So there is no other way around this than to get a full version copy of windows 7...

Does anyone know how I would be able to get a legit copy of Windows 7 at a discounted price? Am I just out of luck?

I know there is a technology board on these forums, but it looked pretty dead, so I thought I'd post here.

Thanks in advance!

Download Virtual Box, a freeware application from Oracle, that allows you to create a virtual machine and install Windows XP on any computer you'd like. Then buy the upgrade, and install it there.

I've been using Virtual Box for a while now and it is a very well written piece of software.
