In the pass year I was admitted to the DPMS program at Drexel. After one semester, I was forced to withdrawal from the program bc of a failing grade dispite my attempts for help. Now, I am have submitted my aacomas but did not include any information about Drexel bc it is a hard situation to explain and it would probably only result in my application being automatically over looked by the schools.

Was this a good idea?

My pre-advisor said that if I get accepted, the school can find out the information thur financial aid and take my acceptance back, is this true?

What should I do?

Is there anyway a person can with hold information from aacomas and aamcas?

Plus It is too late to send my transcript to aacomas bc the deadline has passed for the schools I applied to.

Withholding is one word. Schools can use the national clearinghouse to check which schools you've attended. Whether they'll do this is up to the school but most of them do use it afaik. They won't be able to know your grades or why you attended the school for a short time but I'm sure they'll be able to read between the lines.

Maybe call your schools and let them know? I am not sure what else you can do, because I have heard of people getting their acceptances reversed, even YEARS into medical school... What happened at DPMS? Which class did you fail, and why?

I failed biochemistry which is a essential course for med school and I dont know how to overcome that since there is no way I can take med biochemistry without being in med school

Yes, they can find out. If you have been accepted and they find out you lied/withheld information (which you have certified your application is complete with all information requested - which by withholding information it is NOT), you can be kicked out of school and blacklisted. You can be kicked out in your fourth year after borrowing all that money. They can rescind your diploma after you graduate based on falsifying your application to get in to begin with.

Withholding information is NEVER EVER EVER a good idea. If you have been accepted, you need to come clean IMMEDIATELY and accept whatever consequences come your way. If you have NOT been accepted, thank your lucky stars and start over next application cycle with a true and complete application.

Don't worry about it. They're not going to find out. I swear SDN is populated by neurotic psychos who think adcoms are god and know (or care) about everything. Just start over the application. Don't mentions anything about the Drexel incident. Speaking of which, which undergrad did you attend? I have a pretty good feeling that I know which premed advisor you're talking about.

Tell them you had explosive diarrhea and you got mono. A lethal combination to say the least.

Then just take a **** load of easy science classes to "prove" to them it was not your real performance.

Problem solved.

Also,don't **** up again.

You are playing with fire by leaving out key info.
It's pretty easy for them to find out that kind of information.
They will do some pretty standard checks on your app at some point.

If they find out something like that, you will be blacklisted.
There are also plenty of stories out there about people getting caught years into school. You are really stuck then because of all the loans and no degree.

Here's the rub, if you give them that info, you probably aren't getting in anywhere. I'd still say it's not worth the risk.

Apply to different SMPs, while fully explaining the situation. Do better next time (i.e. DON'T FAIL).

Perhaps do what morsetlis says. Or you could go to the caribbean or Ireland or something, if your stats are decent. I usually don't recommend that, but it would be an end run around your past troubles....uncertain outcome in the end, however.

Is it just me, or does this similar theme keep popping up on these threads over and over again?

Stillr, follow Shyrem's advice. Dragonfly's option might be possible too.

Whether it's a hard situation to explain or not, you may well have to deal with it. Better sooner than later.

And if you say that you had trouble with biochem, even with help from the school, I think you need to find out why; b/c should you gain acceptance, it may well be an issue that comes up again for you.

You just have to take the bull by the horns, and do your best to move forward.

It seems like there are issues that aren't easy to talk about, so I have no judgments for you. I'm sorry that you have had to struggle so.

Good luck to you.

how about contacting individual schools that you applied to and see if they actually check past attendance??

Is the F on your transcript or did they ask you to withdraw before issuing the grade?

It's on my transcript, I would have been better if I had withdraw from the program

Or, you know, just not mention it on the DO application.

Highly unethical, but whatever. Sometimes you can't fix a failure as horrible as that.

You should probably also delete this entire thread ;p

Never hide any information. There is a national database that would reveal every school that you have attended. Even if you are caught as a fourth year student, you will not be able to graduate and do a residency.

I would immediately contact AACOMAS and tell them you forgot to add in one school, and they can let you know what you need to do from there. Even if you get rejected from all schools, it is better to do this rather than getting kicked out of medical school or residency later as this is a SERIOUS offense. You need to contact someone about this now. At this point, you probably wouldn't have the courage to say you intentionally left the school off the transcript, but at the least you could admit that it somehow got left off and ask what you would need to do at this point to get the school updated in your record.

If you don't get accepted to medical school this year, I'd recommend re-taking the course you failed, as well as a few other science courses and then re-applying the next cycle. If you retake a class, DO schools consider your replaced grade into your GPA (even though you still have to list both). So this would be a way to make up the grade for the following application cycle.
