Hi Everyone, I wanted to share this with the community and to anyone that might be struggling or is feeling down. I went to a mid tier med school and unfortunately due to a combination of factors had to make the difficult decision to withdraw. I reapplied and got an acceptance and will be matriculating to ANOTHER and Better U.S. Medical school

I wanted to use this as a lesson to everyone. NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER let anything or anyone discourage you from pursuing and achieving your dreams. Hard work does pay off and sometimes life is not linear and that is ok. We are all on our own journey. I wish everyone the best of luck in their cycles and endevaors! Chase your dreams, work your butt off and no matter what life throws at you, stand back up taller and better!

Congrats, that's very hard to do

Stats and story, if you don't mind sharing? How long was the gap and how were your med school grades?

Finished my m1 year with the exception of a single remediation. Had the unfortunate event that was not feeling the greatest during the said remediation period and was forced under the gun to take it or risk a zero. It went as well as you might expect. Had medical documentation to prove it, strong faculty letters of recommendation as well as involvement.

The gap was 1 cycle, my medical school grades were mediocre.

I see. Were you a high stat (3.8+ AMCAS GPA 515+ MCAT) applicant? Do you have any X-factors like prior military service or D1 athlete?

I ask because data on rematriculants is hard to come by, even though AACOM did a survey once and found that while it was uncommon and challenging, it's not unprecedented.

For complete transparency: Mediocre MCAT >500, <510. My GPA was a 3.8 however. No crazy X factors such as military or D1. Strong story and reason for why medicine 🙂
