So long story short I took a science class and then had a family situation back at home and had to take a withdraw from the class for a number of reasons and it was my least important class at the time and couldn't withdraw from orgo, micro, and neuroscience because they were core classes that had to be taken to advance into other higher level classes unlike the science class I withdrawn from.

The science class was ecology which isn't a required science class to graduate and then never got around taking the following semester at my college in boston because I had to take other required science classes for my degree.

How bad will it look if I don't retake the class before I graduate or should i find some way to include the class in my schedule which is already packed? Would it just look stupid if I never retook it? I know I am capable of getting an A in the class however I graduate soon and currently can't fit the class into my schedule unless I change it ALL up and actually have enough science credits to graduate even without retaking this class. Please any thoughts on this?

Thanks.

Most adcoms only go by numbers. Some don't even look at anything besides stats, and confirmation of completed per-requisites. So really all that matters is your GPA and DAT scores. I wouldn't be surprised If adcoms don't even notice this. If you are interested in the course go ahead and take it. But Orgo, Micro, and neuroscience are much more applicable to dental studies than ecology anywase, so good decision.

One withdrawal will not affect your chances ASSUMING it is your only one, your grades are high to begin with, and you have an excellent reason. Too many people have "family situations" (or life situation should be more appropriate) as reasons for withdrawals. Everyone has things happen during school, some deal with it, others deal with it by withdrawing from classes. Admissions people know this, so for your withdrawal due to family reasons, it needs to be totally legit...that being said....

I don't understand your logic for withdrawing from an Ecology class. That class would take 5-10% of your overall studying time considering you would be in Orgo, Micro, and Neuro. So by withdrawing from the easiest class that allowed you to take care of the family situation AND do well in your other classes? Not trying to call you out or anything, but it goes back to a withdrawal will not hurt you assuming you have a legit excuse for the drop...seems like your reasoning is flawed here...

Oh, and if you have good grades and an otherwise good application do not retake the course. Just know you may have to explain your reasoning for the withdrawal...

Anyway...good luck!!

Ecology isn't necessarily an easy course bro. ^^^
I found orgo, micro etc.. to be rather easy.
