Hi,

I was wondering if it would look bad to withdraw from the schools I'm waitlisted and reapply. I am WL at SUNY Downstate and NYMC. I would really like to get into a school on the West Coast. I'm not sure I'm ready to move and start med school this year. Would it look worse if I got accepted and declined the offer? or should I just withdraw from the WL?

Thanks for your help!

It is usually some sort of red flag to AdComs that an applicant applied, was accepted, and didn't go. They will definitely want to know WHY...If you're unsure of whether you want to attend, then withdraw. Just keep in mind you may not fare any better in the upcoming cycle--meaning you may not place into the "west coast" like you want.
