I have a few withdrawals and was wondering if those could possibly effect my chances of getting into a Pharmacy school? I did a search and nothing came up but I know this topic has been covered before.

Thanks

-Matthew

how many withdrawals do you have I've had about 10

If there is a section in supplemental apps or something to explain, do it. I heard if you explain and have a good reason of why you withdrew from the class, it should not be a big prob.

I had two W's on my transcripts in Statistics and another math course that was not a pre-requisite and I got into three schools.

If you had extenuating circumstances leading to those Ws and you are asked in either a secondary app or interview, then state your reasons and how it is not representative of you.

A W affects you like a bad grade since its likely that many took a W to avoid a sub-C grade. Given that people get in with low grades in courses here and there, I believe it is critical to show that getting low grades isn't habitual for you. You have the Ws now, so there isn't much you can do aside from retaking the course and getting a great grade.

I had one withdrawal on my app when I applied. It was in a ridiculously hard elective course my last year (the class was Historical Perspectives in Chemistry). When I dropped there were only about 20 people left out of the 40 originally enrolled. I explained that on my application and was accepted no problem. As long as you explain yourself you should be fine. Good luck!

I think I had 2 W's on my transcript - one for karate that I dropped during a semester when I was taking 21 hours and one for the History of Organized Crime, which I thought would be interesting but turned out to be boring (because of the professor, not the subject)! I didn't call attention to them and no one ever asked about them - I would guess it depends on how many you have and what courses they are in.

Good luck!
