So I think I took a little too much onto my plate this semester. Right now I'm taking two 300-level chem courses, two 300-level bio courses, and a psych course for a total of 16 credits, plus an extra 1.5 credits of research. I'm also a varsity athlete, which eats up 20 hours a week and leaves me in a constant state of exhaustion due to lack of sleep.
My quantitative chem course is a 4-credit hour class, with two lectures and one 5-hour lab a week. I feel like I've been performing well in lab, but I missed the deadline for a paper worth 10% of my grade, and I feel unprepared for the midterm scheduled for Wednesday. The professor is awful at giving us any information, including our grades, in a timely manner, so this is based more on my guesses than anything else. (ETA: I can still turn in the paper for a max of about 88% at this point if I did everything perfectly, so I guess there's still some hope there?)
I know I could still get a B in this course, but at this point I'm really determined to get an A, and I don't know if that's possible. If I drop, I'll have to repeat the course next fall, and pchem lab will have to wait until my final semester next spring (two 3-hour labs a week + two lectures doesn't sound like it'll agree with senioritis). When I retake the course, it will be with the same professor unfortunately, but this time I'll know what I'm getting into.
Do you think I should withdraw, or just suck it up and take a B? It's the difference between a semester GPA of 3.75 and 3.56, but the semester's already more than halfway over and going through the ridiculously long labs again doesn't sound like much fun to me.
If it makes a difference, I'm very interested in the research side of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals. My PCAT composite was in the 99th percentile, and my current GPA is about 3.46 I think, with all A's & B's in my science courses. I've never withdrawn from a course before.
