I applied to medical school, and one school said that I had to take an anatomy class to even have a chance to get off of the waitlist. I enrolled, time passed, and I found out quickly after I enrolled that I was rejected. I paid probably $800 out of pocket for this class, so I figured I'd finish it.

Then the nightmare started.

I did get my initial course materials, but they kept forgetting to send me the lab DVDs. There was another CD with the course pack and I figured it was the "DVD" until I realized later on that the labs said "DVDs." So I called them in Nov, asking them to send me the DVDs. I figured the wait was slow because of Christmas packages. They never arrived.

I got a job in March and asked for the DVDs again, to be sent to my new address, and I just got e-mailed from the school that they were returned because of an incorrect address. My address is on some other mail and my lease - its not wrong. This was my third attempt to get the DVDs.

My deadline to finish this class is 6/25, I had to pay for an extension to even have a chance after this DVD mess, and I lost a month after the DVDs went back to them. I don't want to fail because of a mailing error. But where I paid to extend the class, it has reopened the withdrawal option. There are no extensions permitted after 6/25.

I'm reapplying, but not to that school that needed that course. How much will it hurt me if I just withdraw now? I already have a BS in Biology from a local school. And will I have to send transcripts from this online school to AMCAS, even though it'll just have one big "W"? (I think I've only ever withdrawn from one other course in all of my academic history.)

Did you send that class in last time? If so, someone may wonder why it isn't on your app the second time. Otherwise I think you can leave it out. I took a very poorly run online course and didn't do too well so I retook the class (different institution) in person when I had a chance. I didn't include the online one on my app and no one ever mentioned or asked about it.

I did add the class in, which is why I'm worried. Since they probably know about it, I can probably just withdraw from it.

Ohio State University requires students to have anatomy. The version of it that I took wasn't the "correct" one, so I had to take another and had to pick it up on my own tab. They won't let you stay on their wait list if you don't at least pick it up by their deadline and they'll interview you before you even know you have to have the class.

Basically:
1. Interview at Ohio State
2.They tell you you're missing the 'correct' version of Human Anatomy and to go get it, or else you can't be wait listed
3. You sign up for it and inform them that you're in it
4. If you get accepted, and I didn't, you have to have it completed and be able to prove it before your first day of med school

Needless to say, I'm not reapplying there.
