I applied to medical school, and one school said that I had to take an anatomy class to even have a chance to get off of the waitlist. I enrolled, time passed, and I found out quickly after I enrolled that I was rejected. I paid probably $800 out of pocket for this class, so I figured I'd finish it.
Then the nightmare started.
I did get my initial course materials, but they kept forgetting to send me the lab DVDs. There was another CD with the course pack and I figured it was the "DVD" until I realized later on that the labs said "DVDs." So I called them in Nov, asking them to send me the DVDs. I figured the wait was slow because of Christmas packages. They never arrived.
I got a job in March and asked for the DVDs again, to be sent to my new address, and I just got e-mailed from the school that they were returned because of an incorrect address. My address is on some other mail and my lease - its not wrong. This was my third attempt to get the DVDs.
My deadline to finish this class is 6/25, I had to pay for an extension to even have a chance after this DVD mess, and I lost a month after the DVDs went back to them. I don't want to fail because of a mailing error. But where I paid to extend the class, it has reopened the withdrawal option. There are no extensions permitted after 6/25.
I'm reapplying, but not to that school that needed that course. How much will it hurt me if I just withdraw now? I already have a BS in Biology from a local school. And will I have to send transcripts from this online school to AMCAS, even though it'll just have one big "W"? (I think I've only ever withdrawn from one other course in all of my academic history.)
