Hi,

I had called UCSD and asked for a deadline extension of two weeks which they granted; but i recieved a letter yesterday that said I had been withdrawn b.c they didnt hear from me for a month with my secondary. Any ideas what I should do?

Don't do anything, maybe with you out of the way they'll take me off hold.

No, seriously, you need to call them first thing in the morning and state your case. The person that granted the extension probably just forgot to adjust your due date and the letter was automatically generated.

yah this is what i think; do they have some sort of log that they track who calls when; im worried they will think im a chump who just forgot...

this really sucks man. If you remember the name of the person you spoke with that might help when you talk to them tomorrow. Good Luck !! Let us know how it went 🙂 :luck:

Hey haybrant,
I too did get that letter. At first I was really upset, but then I figured I have applied to enough schools to be ok without them. I am still bummed though cause they are a good Cali school. Let me know what you find out about this? I thought of giving them a call, but wasn't sure how far it would get me. I thought they would just get my money and reject me anyway even if they did give an extension. Schools can be really rough if they think you aren't strongly interested. Anyway, please keep us posted on this.

hey thanks for the reply; anyone have thoughts about the latter portion of this post? are school's cognizant of when you submit their secondaries? irvine for example says it doesnt matter...

If the school says they have a deadline, they mean it...I had an app dropped cuz I didn't get it in on time and they wouldn't make an exception.

well... if i were you, i would call them. you won't lose anything for calling, but if you don't call, you'll never get a chance to appeal your case. afterall... being a pre-med means that one has to be persistent like that. =p i don't know about whether they will think negatively of your case, but if you've already applied to a dozen other schools, $60 isn't too much compare to what you've already spent on the AMCAS and other secondaries. as long as you get your application in, you'll have some chance. hope you have some good luck when you call the adcom. 🙂

we never end up getting the names. they dont give out names, we have to ask for it.

something i learned from dealing with AMCAS and FAP last year...ugh.

but call and make your case. can't and won't hurt.
