Right now with the interview cycle it is pretty hectic. I have nine interview so far, and I have already went to four of them. I am missing a lot of classes, and it will probably affect my grades. I am curious how easily a medical school would take away an acceptance? I figure I'll start hearing back from these schools in October, which will be before I actually get my fall semester grades. At the worse possible scenario, I could end up with a C and some B's. Currently I have a 3.85, so that could really hurt my GPA.

I heard as long as you pass, you're fine for most med schools.

As long as you don't fail you should be fine. If you are a senior, how much could one C really hurt your GPA, maybe a few hundreths of a point? Do your best, don't loose sleep over it.

you would have to literally have to make a conscious effort get your acceptance taken away due to poor grades. dont fail any courses and youll be fine. A couple Cs and Bs wont do anything.

i have nothing to add except that Tama Umaga is the man

I know a couple people who did pretty terribly their last semester, and they didn't get their acceptances taken away. Make sure you pass everything and get your degree, though!

looking forward but mostly on the same issue - when you apply for residencies do they factor in your college gpa at all?

i'd imagine that's akin to med schools looking at your high school gpa

I'm sure it's not that big of a deal. I'm kind of in the same situation, just minus some interviews. I have 12 hrs and I'm shooting for a 3.5 at best.

Some schools might want an explanation of a C, I know UVA does that.

Let me put it this way. A survey to residency directors listed M1 and M2 grades as 7th in importance after Step 1, class rank, and M3 grades, AOA, Number of honors, etc. Undergrad is not even considered.

Some residency programs do specifically request official undergrad transcripts, but they are a small minority (<5%) depending on specialty.
