Woohoo! Georgetown Highly Select no more!!!

So i'm all excited about leaving tomorrow to go to NYC to visit Duke friends and this morning when i go out to get the mail another exciting thing happened! I got a big manila envelope sent by Georgetown and tore it open to find that i was just taken off the highly select list!!!! You can't believe how unbelievably excited i am about this! I may even skip work today and do nothing except sit on beach. And i thought movement wasn't going to start happening till May 15th. For those georgetown applicants wondering, i wrote two long letter of intent and also called Ms. Sullivan to express my strong interest in Georgetown (which she said she would pass on to Dr. Wall). What some of you might not know is that she does in fact have a vote on the committee too i think. Best of luck everyone and remember to be persist if you wanna go to gtown. And I was all set to go to my state school but this is really making me reconsider my options.

georgetown is awsome and you get to go there! it's a great feeling to get into a medical school, it's a greater feeling to have a choice between a few schools, and it's the greatest feeling to get to go to a school that you loved.

Haha...thanks dancer7..i don't think i've received so many congrats in my life! thanks to everyone else too...if anyone else is still waiting, your time will come soon enough. MaybeMD, yes i'm in San Fran right now but i graduated last spring from Duke and am just here for a year doing AmeriCorps. Are you in San Fran, and if so, where?

Surfdevl02...Congrats! Although I have my name on a few waitlists, its looking more and more like G'Town everyday for me. I remember opening that big envelope myself, and it was a huge relief...being accepted to a school I would love to be at. And I know you want to be there. Thanks again guys/gals. Yo chronic, i hope your name is self-descriptive...we might have to room together. As for the Toombs, i love that place. I've only been there twice to visit undergrad friends but it's a cool low key place to crush a few cans, as you say. I can't wait for orientation. I hope it will be as fun as undergrad orientation.

Hey dancer7, are you comingto Gtown as well?!? If so, andif you live in the East Bay, maybe we can meet for a drink or something. I only have two more months in San Fran and i'm out. Are you originally from Oaktown? I've been overthere several times for A's games and to some parties.

well i'm still on that damn highly select list and i'm getting cozy with my rochester acceptance at this point. i'm beginning to contact people about housing etc.

i'm not origionally from oaktown. i'm doing a program very similar to americorps and volunteering full time. oakland smokin.

bagdadyj...it's all good...while we sip on cold ones, you can relax over a double vodka tonic...my treat. i just got the huge packet of information from g'town the other day, and i must say that i am getting very excited for school to start. despite the "recommendations for summer reading" and the student budget for MS1's, its going to be a great four years...that's fo sho! as for now, you know my chronic-style...just sitting back and enjoying the ride. PM me if y'all wanna shoot the crap for awhile!

Yo, what's up with that summer reading list bull****...it looked like organic chem and biochem all over again and i haven't taken that in 3 years! Do other schools have summer reading requests? I'm sitting on the beach this summer, and there isn't gonna be a biochem book in these hands....

just had to bump up this old thread, because it got me all excited! when are you guys planning on looking for housing? i can't really look until mid-july (maybe) or early august. i'm planning on getting my own place.

Hey Lola....i sent out an email to all the people that have accepted their spots at Gtown (the list from Georgeen, about 24 of us) and have gotten quite a response actually. One guy is looking for 5 other roommates. One girl emailed looking for two other girls. Several people in our class are already in DC looking as we speak. I'm talking to a guy that i met during my interview (that also went to Gtown undergrad) that is gonna look for housing for both of us, and maybe two more roommates in the Burleith area, right across the street from the school. There are houses there and private parking which is necessary because i want to bring a car.

Oh yeah, a girl from SF emailed me yesterday saying her and another one of our classmates is meeting up sometime this weekend and thought it'd be cool if we all met up, just to have some familiar faces at orientation. Do you want me to fill you in on the details when i find out what we're doing??

yes, i decided on gtown over trinity. it was a hard decision, but the more i sit on it the better i feel. i sent the letter to trinity today withdrawing my spot. i'd love to meet up but am moving this weekend so probably won't be able to. pm me when you know the details 🙂.
