Rather than shadowing, I wanna actually work as a dental assistant and get paid while in college. I asked a technical college admissions office if I can take courses during summer and get a CDA degree while I'm still a student in another college. They said no. But is it still possible to work and get paid without the degree if I have sufficient knowledge and skills? I assume it's very likely to be illegal, but one of my friends worked at a dentist's office and got paid when she was a high school junior.

In Texas I worked as a dental assistant for 5 years without any training outside of the office I worked in. Either investigate your state's requirements, or just call up a dental office and ask.

Oh right...OTJ training...I'm so stupid.

I saw the title of this thread thinking you meant DISTRICT ATTORNEY. lol
