Hi, I'm a junior, going into senior yr of college

I was looking at possible jobs I should apply for next fall, and I was interested in one that involves mainly working with disabled people

I was wondering if that's something that looks alright on a med school app

I also will be volunteering at a hospital next semester most likely also

idk, it seems like that type of job seems applicable, even though its not directly research or anything like that (though I need to do some research before i graduate, it seems like research is a staple on any med school app)

It's good that you are first and foremost interested in working with disabled people, and only secondarily concerned with how it looks on your app. But you have no reason to worry, because it will look great.

I think both sound like great opportunities and both will "look" fine.

I had a job that involved working with disabled students through part of college, and I did list it on my amcas. It didn't really come up much during my interviews, maybe once, but then again I didn't exactly highlight it in my app. Still, depending on the nature of the job (I was an attendant), you could potentially learn a lot about what everyday life is like with a disability, and I came out of it with a few very good friends who I probably wouldn't have met otherwise. So...I'd say go for it--it ain't gonna hurt, and it's a good opportunity you might not have time for in the future 🙂
