Foreign bachelor’s degree holder here. WES evaluated my transcript and the GPA is well below a 3.0 GPA, which includes BCPM classes. Currently taking post bacc classes. Will my WES evaluated grade affect my application and my overall gpa that I will input on AMCAS/AACOM? My BCPM in my bachelor’s was not the best, but retaking BCPM classes now and so far, all As. Thank you in advance!

I would take those classes and have WES re-evaluate the GPA with the added credits. That will boost your GPA higher as undergrad.

Oh does WES also evaluate credits taken here in the US? When putting it all in the AMCAS, foreign degrees are not included in the overall calculation, right?

Yes that's what i did. I really don't know about the AMCAS form yet but i did that and it boost my GPA even higher.

Hmm I think it would be more detrimental for me? I have 150+ credits and taking post bacc in to consideration will barely move it. Is it possible for me to not combine the two together?

I have no idea sorry... 🙁

Your foreign GPA doesn't count for anything on AMCAS. In fact, you don't have to list the courses you took abroad (unless they transferred to a US institution for credit) though you can if you want. If you decide to list all foreign courses, you should not include any grades as AMCAS does not verify foreign transcripts. You will want to list the school and then request a transcript exemption.

Additionally, you aren't required to submit your WES evaluation to AMCAS. Some/most medical schools will require it before matriculation but that's it. AACOMAS is a different story. Foreign grades are a big PITA on AACOMAS.

I'm really confused by your statements but they aren't supported by AMCAS applicant guide. WES does not evaluate domestic coursework and they aren't responsible for calculating any type of cumulative GPA for you. This is a lot of misinformation. AMCAS will calculate your cumulative GPA and your foreign coursework will not be included in the calculation.

OP - please read the 2019 AMCAS Applicant Guide starting at page 37.

Thank you so much for the reply. Since I didn't do so well on my foreign bachelor's degree, it would be unwise for me to have it transferred to a US institution for credit, right? I'm almost a year in my DIY post bacc and GPA is still a 4.0. This would then be the only grade that would be evaluated officially, correct?

I read it. Thank you so much! This will be helpful for when I actually will begin the AMCAS applications.
