Wormy cats - How do I kill them?

The worms that is, I want to kill the worms. My cat has tape worms, what's the best and cheapest way to get rid of them? Do over the counter meds work? If I need to see a vet do I need to bring both cats, or is one enough?

Very funny subject line, I know you meant the worms, but it took me a second...

Anyway, I would say take both of them to your vet. From what I recall, the tapeworm meds our Doctor prescribes are not too terribly expensive. I think the most effective way would be the way a veterinarian recommends.
