I submitted my application June 12, but my school took forever and my letters didnt get sent until the 21st of august. So far I've only had one Interview at San Antonio.

Im just worried since its been around 6 weeks since my letters were sent out, and i haven't heard anything outside of my application now being complete. My question is, should i be worried?

the earliest you could possibly hear from UIC is Jan- Feb for OOS
BU, Tufts and Pitt filled their pre Dec slots, good news they do interview way into spring, Pitt will send another round of appr same amount of invites for spring...
Columbia is done with pre Dec invites am not sure how many invites go for post Dec
NYU - you might hear from them for pre Dec, Temple- more likely you might hear from them post Dec, they might have some slots for Nov yet.
I would call all schools to make sure there nothing else they missing but otherwise nothing else to do but wait....

I wouldn't rule out NYU and Temple for November interviews. According to predents.com they've only filled up their spots up until till October.

stop being a female dog, some people don't have ANY interviews, be appreciative for one if thats what you have 🙂 (p.s. im in the same battleship as you)

Hey Harcho, we're in the same exact situation. I have one interview as well, and we have similar stats (your DATs are better, but my gpa's a bit higher). I've been feeling pretty frustrated as well for the last month or so. But I was looking at pre-dents from last year, and a lot of people with similar or worse stats as us had December/Jan interviews at a lot of schools and were accepted. So, that gave me some hope again. I think we should be fine, just rock that interview you have, and hopefully more will come our way.

And I wonder if its that dancing too that's holding us back haha

Hello HarCho,

Don't worry. My case is similar to you. Just one interview invitation so far. I am not losing my hope! Good Luck! 🙂

My situation: I've got a 4.0 and an above average DAT and a pretty sweet TS and research and volunteer and blah blah blah...and I only have one interview confirmed. I also submitted very early. This game..is not fair. All you can do is have faith. Actually, you can call the schools too. Just tell them you want to check your status.

Not to hijack your thread but speaking of unfair... NYU still hasn't processed my letters which have been sitting in their office for over 2 months now. I keep seeing these people who submitted in September get "App Complete" emails and it annoys the crap outta me. I just don't know what to do with them...

Yaaa, actually they haven't processed mine either. I called them last week and they said it might be sitting in some box that they havent checked yet, and to call again next week. sooo yaaa, i dont know whats going on with them lol.

All you need is one my friend...

Be grateful (I'm not saying you aren't) for what you have and nail your one shot!

3.3 23
that should deserve a few interviews IMO. I think this is why the OP is a bit mad.

I wouldn't say mad. Just disappointed, I applied last cycle and got no interviews. So I re-took the DAT and i was hoping I would be better off. Which I am, I am extremely grateful for having at least one interview this early in the game. But it doesn't stop me from being nervous. Can't help it after not getting in last year.

I got one pre-dec interview last year and one post-dec. So I re-wrote my DAT, did way better and submitted everything at the same time as last year. 0 Interviews.

You forgot to mention you applied to 18 schools last time and only 7 this time.

A low GPA may be the reason some of you all are not hearing back so soon. Your DAT scores are solid, but a lot goes into the interview selection process. Although the GPA's are not bad, one that is usually below a 3.4 requires a little more attention. Like the school you attended, your major, and curriculum. More focus may also be put on your science GPA. I'm sure everyone has heard this, but this is most likely the reason you are not hearing back as quickly. Don't freak yourself out though. A 22 or above on the DAT is REALLY good and will make you stand out

Then again you can peek at my stats and realize that a lower gpa doesn't mean you can't get early interviews. Key for me I believe was having EVERYTHING in and completed in early July. If anything I'd guess the OP is struggling because of the late letters...

I think people concentrate on numbers tooo much

Some of you dont realize the power of a personal statement in the application process...

Also maybe his E.C.'s arent that great...

idk😕

Most of the 10 I didn't re-apply to was b/c they rejected me like its hot

Hey Ninster
I really think you should apply to more schools
Your DAT went up from 19 to 21
I am pretty sure schools that rejected you would read more into your file now
I wouldn't just bank on the BU, NYU, Tufts or USC..
The fact is , everything is so unpredictable, you never know what is going to happen
I heard nothing from BU, NUY, TUFT or USC so far
Well, just my suggestion

While I'd like to agree with you, I think people play the numbers game because there are soooooo many applicants for soooo little spots, schools have to find away to limit the pool. I may be giving too much credit to the applicant pool, but I like to think that the majority of dental school applicants are well educated, have looked deeply into the field, and are schooled in writing; ergo a solid personal statement.

I do agree with you that a lot more goes into the application than numbers, no arguement there. But initially, private schools like Tufts, Boston, NYU, Marquette, etc. Probably look for specific numbers with a FEW exceptions
