The problem with choosing the "worst" school is that no one has actually seen all of them (facilities, faculty, etc) so the schools with the worst GPA and DAT averages end up becoming the worst schools.

I don't really agree with that. Boston is getting insane votes because of its reputation. Ouch.

USC is living up to its sparkling SDN reputation

How are NYU and Puerto Rico heavily voted for? Those are very clinically robust schools.

I am currently deciding between USC, Tufts and Maryland at this point.

I personally think USC isn't a bad school at all. May be I don't know too much about it.
I understand PBL scares people away, but that doesn't mean the school itself sucks. Its not USC's problem that anti-social/shy people were embarrassed from their PBL interview and can't handle group work.

Plus, I think it's really funny to see how some people who were not even invited for an interview just talk **** bc they think they actually know what they are talking about. So immature lol You call yourself a future dentist? REALLY? lol (Hi timwately) Grow u^p^.

Meharry and Howard have their own thing for minorities. Yes their stats are lower than others, but so what? Go to predents.com, there are many dental schools with low stats. NYU and USC actually have higher stats than many schools.

Bottom line is.... Grow up lol Stop spending/wasting so much time on SDN and criticizing schools lol This website isn't for "let's talk **** about other dental schools but mine" It's to help pre-dental students with questions.... If you dont agree with me, that's fine. Just go grab some beer or party up before your dental school starts. (hi timwately) lol

I probably wouldn't have ended up going to BU either way, but I must admit BUdentite's posts made me not even bother applying there.

If you were a legit student looking to help out people, thanks. If you were just making up stuff for the hell of it, good job you scared me away 🙂.

I feel like after intense research into which schools to apply to, which ones to travel to see, and which offer to accept (if you have this chance to have multiple offers), not enjoying dental school is real detriment to the school's reputation among students. The school should at least field a tolerable curriculum/class.

How come Harvard is italicized and the others aren't in the poll? lol

Apparently I have a fan.

So what's people's honest opinion about NYU? It has a hefty number of votes. I feel like that's just due to its high cost, which is really a perceived high cost (ie. it's expensive to live in NYC, not to attend the school; several other schools are just as expensive or moreso and don't have nearly as many votes on the list).

I'm going to deposit at Case as well. But I turned down Minnesota for NYU because Minnesota was actually a bit more expensive (for me, since I'm international) and I would rather live in NYC. Plus I plan on practicing in Canada and superficially, I feel like NYU carries a bigger name than UMN over here.

So some honest opinions on NYU would be nice. I know for many it's just the school that people would go to if they got in nowhere else, but I'm hoping that's mainly due to cost?

There are not many schools without a vote now... everyone has their personal preferences.

But excluding the URM schools, many of the schools with lots of votes have one thing in common.... Huge price tag. (BU, NYU, USC, Roseman, and LLU)

Loma Linda has 5 votes and Roseman has 6, I wouldn't call that a lot. Harvard has more

I'm not sure why NYU has a lot of votes either. The only bad things I heard about the school have to do with cost and class size. I can't blame people for questioning the high cost and the giant class size but how does that allude to the quality of education the school provides?

Anyways, to answer your question, there's another thread called "NYU Grads" (something like that). They were talking about NYU and a D1 that posted on that thread offered to answer questions about NYU. That might be a more reliable source than the various school bashing here.

When I was just finishing my undergrad about 4 yrs ago, it wasnt BU/USC bashing that was going on it was BU/NYU, maybe history carried over.

It's hard to undo the damage done. USC will be paying for the mistakes made under the previous administration for a long time.
