Worst thing you've seen while shadowing?

More amusing than horrifying, my very 1st time shadowing the doc I was working with got a call from ER. An individual had come in with an adult toy lodged in their rectum. They tried removing it with forceps but it was too slippery, required abdominal surgery. I was like, "WOW, this stuff really DOES happen!"
 
Watching the sister of a middle aged patient make the decision to take her off of life support
 
Gunshot suicide that had been decomposing for three days in the Florida summer.

Shadowed a family physician for a term, saw a pelvic exam. Wasn't bad. Two weeks later same patient comes in, most awkward eye contact ever when I walked in the room with the doc... Then the nurse said she remembered me and felt just as awkward. LOL
 
Never seen anything bad like some of these stories. Worst thing was somebody pooped on the doc during a colonoscopy. Pretty much par for the course I think.
