During the interview, when they ask, "Tell me about yourself." Would it be a waste of time to mention that you are a PBK member or received a significant college award?

As long as you don't sound arrogant.

I can't imagine how you could work this into an open ended question without sounding self-congratulatory.

If that is the best that you can talk about your self, then yes...

If they ask about your awards specifically sure, but don't shoehorn it in. If your interview is open file, the interviewer will know about your awards anyway. If not, only do it if you can work it in naturally, even then, it doesn't really add that much. It's a much better use of your time to talk about your passions, interests and experiences.

lol no. does PBK or your college award define you? "tell me about yourself" is not the opportunity to give the basic synopsis of your resume. stick to a few sentences that define you as a person. pretend this question is "speed dating: medical school edition," and don't overwhelm/bore the interviewer by rambling on about your various accomplishments.

Thanks for all the inputs 🙂 Won't be mentioning any of those in the interview.

I think that unless the awards are very significant and or define your application it's not a great idea. If you really want to mention them, I'd talk more about overcoming a challenge to reach whatever merited you the award as that's at least slightly more interesting!
