Would it be fine to shadow this person?

I couldn't find a post on this. Now, I know this is a stupid question but I wanted to make sure before I did it.

The person I want to shadow is in Optometry. I'm assuming (since I want to go to medical school) that I probably shouldn't shadow them because it's not like an average doctor I've heard other people shadowing (since they're OD). I really don't know if I should or not.

Go for it, it wont hurt. In fact, it would show that you considered careers other than a medical doctor.

Ok, I figured it def. wouldn't hurt to go look, who knows? I may be more interested in that. Besides, the ladies there are very nice and I'm a patient there as well.

exactly, but try to shadow some MDs or DOs as well.

OD, DO, it's all the same, the letters are just arranged a bit differently.

Seriously though, medicine and optometry are pretty different, so I'm not sure how much this experience will help you.

Oh yea, I will, no doubt. Thanks for answer my question 🙂 (Just sent a request to her office)

Now that I think about it, I have an appointment at her office next week haha

Exactly!!...maybe after shadowing she finds out she really wants to go into optometry.

I know, but it's better to have a broad view than narrow
