Would it look funny to apply to an MD and a Phd program at same school?

There is a Phd program which looks really intresting to me, however it is at a school I would like to apply to for med school. Do you think it would look bad to apply to them both?

Could you apply MD-PhD? At least that looks like you have a coherent plan....is the PhD in biosciences or something completely unrelated? If the latter they are unlikely to know so it's not going to be a problem. If they are likely to know then the obvious interview question which would be almost impossible to diplomatically answer would be "So if you are accepted to both, which will you choose?" After all, the question goes directly to the point of what *are* your plans, where do you see yourself going, are you really committed to medicine, and is the PhD just a 'backup'....
