Hey all,

So would an acceptance be taken away if I got like a 3.2 this semester and next semester. All the terms say is "maintain current academic standing." I currently have a 3.9 through 3 years of undergrad so just wondering

THX

No, as long as you didn't get put on academic probation. But I certainly hope you're going to avoid that kind of drop unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Since this phrase could be interpreted in multiple ways depending on the school, rather than stressing about it (since your GPA is taking a dive), why not call the admissions office, or email, and enquire about their policy (anonymously).

I would think some schools might get irked if this affects their enrollment averages. Or do they only report amcas gpa?

I had this question earlier, and like Catalystik said, it is best to inquire with your school of interest. That is what I did, and they will tell you.

The school of interest for me was a mid-tier private MD school, and their policy was to just maintain good academic standing with your university. Just don't get put on probation. That's how they defined "maintain current academic standing." I'm sure this policy is similar for many schools (with exceptions of course), so you'll more than likely be okay with two semesters of 3.2.

Definitely call the school and check. I had a family member have their only acceptance revoked after receiving a C in a class.

O_O which school is this?

An east coast DO school. I would rather not state the name since they ended up getting into it the following year with the contingency they take 9 hours of upper level science classes and get A/B in them. Which they did and are now attending that school. Seems crazy because he/she already had a 3.78 GPA but their mcat was lacking so maybe that's why.

Most of the time, it should be fine. I'm going to drop from 3.9 to 3.7 cGPA with a 2.9 gpa this semester.... and it's not going to matter lol.

EDIT: as far as texas med schools go
