Hey everyone,

My mother is an RN, so I've gone into work with her and shadowed a few physicians she works with (all IRs so far) in the past. I graduated high school in June, but I was accepted to the university that I'm going to attend in the Spring (so I'll start Jan. 2010). For the fall semester, I was going to take classes at a state school and transfer them when I enter school in the Spring, but it ended up not working out, so now I'm doing nothing until January school wise.

Now here's my question: I know shadowing hours really don't count until college, but since I'll have a lot of time to shadow over these next 4 months, will the hours count even though it's technically before college still?

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure. It's like asking if the summer before college counts for anything. I think you should use your time to shadow whether it will count or not, it's not like you're going to do anything else anyway.

Of course it counts! If you had ANY experience in your life and it helped shape who you are now (AKA be a better doctor) then it "Counts"

Yes you can use this on your application.

Does that mean shadowing in high school also counts? I thought med schools didn't care about anything you did in high school.

Alright awesome, glad to hear it. Thanks guys!
