Would they revoke my acceptance???

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am freaking out.... I have been accepted to one of the schools in Texas, and I was getting ready to send my final transcripts to them and one of my friends mentioned something that has really made me freak out ... One semester on my junior year i was subject to probation warning and I had no idea that it is considered a disciplinary act since it was just a warning, but my friend was telling me that it will be on my transcript and I went and got a copy of my transcript and sure enough its there..... BUT to the answer to question " have you ever been subject to any academic disciplinary act?" I had said no in my TMDSAS application!!!!!
I don't know what to do and how to fix this, do you guys thing they will revoke my acceptance when they get my transcripts????

i would certainly come forward with it.
i'm wondering myself how much they actually screen us once we're accepted.
they check that u have a degree and I assume that no red flags spring up.
this probation is a red flag.
good luck

What was the warning for? A warning doesn't really sound like disciplinary action to me.

Yeah I agree. A warning is not disciplinary action. I think you told the truth and should be ok. Just be honest with them and tell them soon.

Tell them. Once you get an acceptance schools will look foolish revoking it unless it is something really serious(ex: the applicant turns out to be a murderer, rapist, or a druggie). Admissions generally do not like to reverse their decision because it makes them look bad. If it was just a warning then don't worry about it. Better that you let them know because if they find out later it will be a considered a malicious attempt to misrepresent yourself which is grounds enough to kick you out no matter how minor the transgression was originally.

Agreed! If you don't tell them now it will surely snowball.

I hear all of you, BUT I'm also afraid that I will be bringing something they won't even notice to the light and make a big deal out of it. Since the transcripts will go to registrars office and not the dental dean's office or admission office....
and Also doesn't TMDSAS send school a copy of transcripts, so shouldn't they have seen it by now? or can't they tell by looking at the GPA???
And the question was exactly stated as :
Were you ever the recipient of any action by any college or professional school for:
a. unacceptable academic performance:
b. conduct violations:

I cannot be 100% sure, but I am afraid that this doesn't look good.. sorry for the bad news.. a warning = unacceptable academic performance. This is inconsistent with your previous statement when you said the school only asked whether there was a "disclipinary action"

Was the warning for a semester with a failing GPA? Also, maybe a warning is something that can be removed from your transcript if you reversed whatever the problem was.

I am afraid that I have to second that.

Most likely, the acceptance would be revoked as well. I really feel bad for the OP about this, but I think the OP has no excuse here. It was clearly stated that action regarding unacceptable academic performances should be informed. She had a warning due to unacceptable acedemic performances but stated otherwise. But that action is clearly printed in her transcript. I don't see how she can get out of this. Again, I really feel bad for her, but this certainly doesn't look good for her.

OP's best bet would be to come forth to the admissions office about this matter and beg for mercy. If she simply hopes that they would not notice this and keeps silence, they will revoke her acceptance for sure.

That is really weird. At my school judicial affairs is not allowed to disclose any information that has to do with disciplinary action. The only person that has access to such information is the student, or the student has to give permission to disclose . Therefore, it would never show up on a transcript. I am sorry to hear that!

Correct me if I am wrong. This is your final transcript that you are sending to them and this warning happened in your junior year. Wouldn't the school have already seen the warning on the official transcript you sent off with your aadsas application? Don't the school get a copy off your transcript from aadsas? If this is the case then they are fully aware of the situation already and you have nothing to worry about.

Schools have different policies I guess.

Seems like there certainly are some schools that record the warnings in the transcrips. see below:

Academic Warning

  • First-year students completing their first semester: First-year students completing their first semester whose GPA is below 2.00 are placed on first semester warning. Students will receive first semester warning notification and are required to follow the guidelines set forth in the letter. For these students, first semester warning is noted permanently on their academic transcript.

  • Continuing students: All other students whose most recent semester GPA was less than 2.00, but whose cumulative GPA is 2.00 or higher will receive an academic warning notification. Students are required to follow the guidelines set forth in the letter. For these students, academic warning is not noted on the transcript.

They are most likely not aware of it now, since they mainly look at the AADSAS version of the "modified" transcript, not her original school transcript. But they certainly will look at them closely once the final transcript before the matriculation is submitted to see any discrepancies.

If this is how it works, I stand corrected.

A crappy semester grades will be noticed regardless of disciplinary action not being noted on the transcripts. If you a semester with failing grades and no indication of any disciplinary action they might wonder what happened on that semester. If the OP had told them before hand that there was disciplinary action beforehand then it would be consistent with the semester of poor grades. If not then the OP is at the mercy of the admissions going over the file again and revising their decision. Being forgetful about grades that were noted a long time ago is generally acceptable as long as you tell them. If its minor action like a warning is also generally acceptable.

yeah I think the OP is in trouble. I hope that the admissions committee have mercy to the OP. But yeah, the OP should tell the adcoms asap and pray for forgiveness. She shouldn't give excuses.

The problem is that it wasn't too long ago. It seems like it was only several months ago. Also, an academic warning is a hard one to forget.

I don't. SO you made a mistake. You didn't know that being given a probation WARNING was considered discipline. I would call the school and talk to one of the people who gave you the interview and tell them what happened. If you got in you got in. You got warned about probation and made improvement enough. Explain the situation Monday and no later. Also tell them why you haven't told them from sooner since they will ask when you found this out.
