Would this be a valid activity I can include on my application?

As the new administration rolled in, it made many changes to the government's White House Website. Specifically, it took down the Spanish versions of the white house page and its other social media accounts.

Since executive orders affect all of us no matter what side of the political pendulum we swing, I have taken it upon myself to create a twitter page that tracks these orders signed by the president and summarize them concisely to make them easily available for everyone.

The goal is to make sure everything was posted in multiple languages so different demographics are aware of how they will be affected and I'm still working on that starting with English summaries.

The page is: x.com

Although the page is still small and growing, is that something I can talk about on my application in terms of bringing awareness to important issues for multiple demographics?

It's a good thing, no doubt, although good luck implementing it on the DOGE chief's platform. As you say it's small so I wouldn't put it on an application. But if something comes up related during an interview you can bring it up.

I think translation still works through Google or other chatbots.

For the question of whether this is worthy of an activity for medical school or any graduate program, can I ask why? What competency is this supposed to show?

We need a lot of people to take action and resist, but digital activism will be met harshly with counter-activism and misinformation from those who oppose you. Given that there are no fact-checkers on TwX or Meta, why do you believe this will be an effective use of your energy when you have to focus on your preparation for a career as a physician?

That makes sense and I see your point and agree that you’re right that it’s really not application worthy.
I just immigrated and I started it as a fun project for my family who mostly aren’t english speakers but the resources you mentioned are also pretty effective so i’ll be looking at those. I’ll keep this as just a fun side project.
Thank you so much!!

If you get an appropriate interview/secondary question w/ respect to advocacy, I think is fair game. I just wouldn't burn an AMCAS activity slot for it if the hours aren't big
