Would adcoms view this potential schedule as me fluffing my schedule or me taking a light courseload and then negatively affect me..?

Junior Year Fall
5 Psychology classes (15 credits)

Junior Year Spring
4 Psychology classes
Biochemistry I
(Total 15 credits)

I am a psychology major and finished my prereqs during my first 2 years, so would taking these psych classes be viewed as fluff and discriminate or would they understand that I am attempting to finish my major?

I also would like to know how a light course load (let's say 3 or 4 courses / semester) might affect the applicant..

I don't think a psych major taking 5 psych classes would be considered "fluff," unless a few of them are some intro-level trash.

You have to realize the people flipping through your application are doing so in a hurry, and specific classes are probably one of the least of their worries unless they're particularly interested. Even with course names and numbers, the variance in class number/naming that each school uses and the variance in professors makes it pretty much impossible to decipher 'difficulty' of your classes. With that being said, a 'light' enough semester to raise an eyebrow would have to have *all* of the following:

Less than full-time (< 12 credits)

Introductory courses after taking advanced courses in the same field

No lab or science-based (BCMP) courses

Keep in mind, it would have to be all three of those before I believe anyone could rightly claim they took a 'light' course load.

In your case you never drop below 12 credits, and while Psych isn't always considered BCMP it is still your major, so it makes sense to be loading heavily into that field.

Not fluffy. And it won't even get noticed I bet.
