I may need to get a job to start paying for student loans while I'm applying to dental school. I'm think about getting a job as a pharmacy technician. Would this negatively impact my chances of getting into dental school since this job is associated with pharmacy? I don't want dental school administrators to think I'm interested in a career in pharmacy.

I worked in a veterinary hospital when I applied. My daily run-ins with patients were fun to talk about during my interviews, and I never had anyone say something negative about my experience. So, no, it won't negatively impact your app.

Just say health field is very important to you, and that you want to work in the health field.

I worked in a mailroom and didn't get any questions about whether or not I wanted to become a mail carrier. You're fine!

I have been working as a pharmacy technician for 3 years and still do.They were actually impressed by that.

Worked in a Emergency Room for 3.5 years. Never was asked why dentistry over medicine during my interviews.

I work as a Nurse Tech. Not worried that it's not dentistry. Either tech position = experience that will definitely help and probably be a great conversation starter in interviews. IMO.

Why would it harm you? If anything it will help you because ds admins want a diverse group of student in their classes.
