What a crazy article. This is pure hogwash. If this lawsuit actually went through and i fear it did, I'm shaking in.my boots. I dont think i could deliver a 25wk old any better.

The expert witness for the plaintiff brought up some good points which probably sealed the deal with the jury. However, I don't think having that equipment would have made any difference in the outcome. It was a 25 weeker. There's a good change that baby had CP before labor even began.

The learning point for me if I am faced with this situation:
1) Fly that patient.
2) If flying isn't an option, make sure that the ambulance transferring is prepared to deal with the worst possible scenario- i.e.- premature delivery of a 25 weeker. I think, in this case, that would mean getting a neonatal unit to follow the ambulance just in case Mom gives birth.
