Would you do this rotation?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think it would probably disgust you unless you were some capitalistic egomaniac. They will probably try to make it look all sunshine and puppies as they show you cost-benefit analyses regarding slashing overlap hours and tech help.

I spent some time with a DM (not an entire rotation) and I was amazed how good he was at putting a positive spin on everything. PCI, drive thru, 15 minute wait times, there was nothing this guy couldn't spin. CVS picked well when they made him a DM, a true believer if you will.

Probably be a pretty easy rotation, and I would find it interesting to see everything from a more corporate perspective, but I doubt you would enjoy it, although I hope you do it just to see what you post on here about it.

They are giving us the option of doing an elective rotation in Corporate Business Management. It's gonna be with CVS. What do you guys think, would it suck, would it be fun to see what goes through the mind of district supervisors? Would I learn much?

Honestly, it sounds boring to me, but I've known from Day 1 that I did not want to be a manager. If management interests you, it's worth a try. Besides, it's only a month.

I hope you do it just to see what you post on here about it.

I'd like to hear about it too. I personally think it would be interesting to see things from management's point of view, and I'll probably do a similar rotation when the time comes. Maybe all of those seemingly incomprehensible things they do have a purpose? If it's completely boring though I'd like to know ahead of time so I can avoid making a similar mistake :meanie:

There are 5 rotations I gotta do in the next 7 months. So far I know I'm gonna do Internal Medicine, Ambulatory Care, Oncology Elective, Infectious Disease Elective.

The last elective is what I'm stumped on. Should I do the CVS Management rotation or should I do a rotation at a LTC pharmacy (Shore Pharmaceuticals, supposed to be like Omnicare).

Ew. I was gonna say don't do management (unless you want to come up with 100s of ways to bug pharmacists to sell flu shots)...but if the alternative is LTC, I would say go for it. Why?

1.) it's an easy in if you decide to go retail...plus hopefully you'll be down with the management too, always a plus
2.) you said corporate and i'm not sure if that's a real adjective or what...does this mean you hang out with a DM, or actually work with corporate?
3.) in any case, you'll probably learn a lot on how to do as much as you can with as few resources as possible.

I think I'd be working at a district office,

Sparda, didn't you already burn your bridges at CVS?

Only with my immediate supervisor at the time that I left (who is no longer Rx Manager of the store that I used to work at, I heard everything went to hell for a week or so after I jumped ship), and the lead technician. I still have a lot of pharmacists that I worked with over the years that can put in a good word. I got a call last month from a pharmacist at a store that I used to float at asking if I could cover a couple of days, but I had to inform them that I was no longer with CVS.

Now, what I was told by my immediate supervisor when I was jumping ship was that I would be put into the system as don't re-hire.

What had happened:

I had given my 2 weeks notice that I was leaving for Costco (at a time that we were very short handed.)

The last week of my 2 weeks notice was also finals week.

On the way to one of my finals, I got into a car accident. Got late to finals, school was okay with it since I called them up and let them know + police report for proof.

My cousin had taken me to school and is now bringing me back. His car's cooling pipes take a dump and now we're stranded in Manhattan. It is now 12PM. I gotta be at work at 2PM.

I inform CVS that I'm not gonna be coming in, they freak and tell me that I gotta show up no matter what. I essentially say "eff you, it's an emergency, if you can't understand, consider my employment there done as of now, bye"

Finally, the district office where I'd be working on this rotation is a different one.
