Hi,

I'm curious whether MD's would ever use telemedicine to treat a patient. What are people's general thoughts on this technology?

I'm merely a newly-admitted medical student, but I know a hospital at my undergrad is moving towards implementation of telemedicine.

If the location is remote and the doctor is in a specific specialty in which transportation would inconvenience the patient or the doctor, then by all means. For primary care reasons, I would say that a physical visit far outweighs a telemedicine encounter

It is an amazing technology. Of course it can't compare to a face to face interaction, but there are millions of people out there who don't have access to even the most basic healthcare, so telemedicine can really help these people.
