I have already been accepted to DMU and can't afford to go on many more interviews. Ut Resident. Location is of almost no importance (would not want to live in Kirksville though). I just wonder if any of these schools could possibly offer the same or better quality of education as DMU at the same or better price. Thanks for your help.

I'd choose OSUCOM first, MUCOM second. OSU has a hospital, MU has great clinical affiliations.

I would absolutely go to the RVUCOM interview. They have a great curriculum where you basically go over the entire material twice over two years, leading to high COMLEX pass rates (99% first time pass rate I believe). OSUCOM is a tough one, they really really like to accept in state applicants but they did send you an II as an OOS applicant, so its really up to you. Do you think your stats are competitive enough to overcome the in-state bias?

Is TUCOM the one in Texas? Or one of the Touros? If Texas then I would go there first and then RVU. They have fantastic average board scores. Already most of the MDs I know say it has a very good reputation in the Midwest, Utah especially.

TUCOM is Touro.

But agreed. TCOM is very good.

Then I would go to the RVU interview and the OSUCOM interview. RVU because of prior reasons stated and OSU because they have a teaching hospital and more research opportunities as a state school

1) osu (it is very important to get third year done at a decent teaching hospital, osu has one of those).

2) rvu (older than MU with stellar board scores and solid match rates despite its for profit status).

3) TUCOM

Thanks for the opinions guys. I really appreciate it. I think I'll to to OSU for sure and then either RVU or TUCOM. I'm a bit worried about MUCOM because they haven't had a match, board scores or rotations yet.

MUCOM already has its 3rd year students doing rotations and their have been no complaints so far on SDN.

Honestly, if I was in your position I'd be satisfied with DMU and withdraw from all the other IIs.

I can't even imagine how unstressful this situation is. Knowing you get to do whatever the h*** you want with your interviews because your sitting on an acceptance from a top notch DO program.

Contrary to popular belief, all those schools will give you an education on par with DMU. These are DO programs we're talking about here. For all intents and purposes they're all the same. Yes, that includes OSUCOM and their "teaching hospital".

It's not like we're deciding between WashU and Ponce. The differences in terms of your career trajectory will be minimal at these programs, so make decisions based on where you want to live.

I'm surprised no one recommended KCOM.

If I have the time and money, I would check KCOM and OSUCOM out. And maybe RVU because of their curriculum.

But DMU is a top notch school, congrats OP!

Agreed. Although I don't think we were trying claim difference in education. But there ARE things I consider. A teaching hospital means access to many specialties in house and usually solid rotations. Not traveling a ton for rotations is a plus. Also the lower class size at OSU is also something to consider. Maybe OP learns better in that environment. Maybe OP is drawn to the high board scores of RVU. I think OP just wanted us to highlight some benefits of each of those schools so he could weigh them against his DMU acceptance. Which, yes, is a fantastic school.

Why don't you research these schools and decide which one you like the most?

There is a guy from Utah valley university that is an MS1 at OSUCOM. He also has two brothers that went there and both are ENT's. If you want to ask him some questions about the school let me know. Also I am from Utah myself and interviewed at Touro NV just because it was really close to home. I actually decided that las vegas is too close to home and gives family an excuse to come visit which I saw as a potential problem. I knew I would have visitors every month if I was in vegas and so I decided to stick with my top choice at KCU. Also DMU has tons of Utah students, 11 from my class at UVU are MS1's there (not sure if fellow utah students are a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective). Congrats on the acceptance.

Thanks a lot for the info and the perspective!

Depending upon where you live,

1) RVUCOM
2) TUCOM (if CA or NV)

Note that my choices are made on geography.
