My dad at one point in his life had a similar situation, where he took a prestiguous job with Exxon Mobil in NY. My mom worked and my sis, and I stayed and went to school in SC. Our life was already established in SC as was my mother's family so we didn't want to move and deal with the cold! There were times when it caused some strain on their relationship, but they got through it for a few years, until my dad found a job in SC or nearby again.

Go to the more prestigous school and take out the loans. Your relationship is more important that will endure and last for many years. School is only for so long. $$$ isn't everything.
