Would you rather go to a medical school that you really did not want to attend (whether it be because of the money, curriculum, location, facilities, whatever...), or improve your application and re-apply next cycle?

I personally would rather go to any medical school than lose a year and go through the expense and stress of applying again. Then again, all of the schools that I applied to I would not mind going to--so perhaps that is the difference?

Anyway, so if it was because of money that I didn't want to go to one school--that would balance out, I think...Losing the year and spending the money and time applying again...Yes, it would balance out.

If it was because of curriculum, I don't think that any school has a curriculum that does not work...so I would adjust the way I learn and study more by myself and take advantage of the curriculum at the school I didn't want to go to as much as I could. Same for facilities.

As per location I'm in a more unique situation than many people in that I'm trying to get near my boyfriend; however, taking off a year would not ensure that I got into a school close to where he will be--so, again, I think that despite not liking the location, even in a case as extreme as mine where we have been dating long distance for almost three years and really want to be together while I'm in med school....I would have to say to go to any school that I can get into if I only have that school for a choice.

It is such good fortune to get into any med school!!!!!

I'll take whatever I get. There really isn't a guarantee that you will get to where you want on the next cycle. I would rather move on. Worst come worst, I'll try to transfer out although that is tough too.

True. But the same could be said for many things. Where you go to undergrad, etc.

But.....we all know that certain things do matter, even if their importance is small.

Yeah, I personally think you're right. Some guy in the allo forum said that. I think his point was just that the work overwhelms your life, so it sucks equally wherever you go. I think that guy was a little disgruntled.

Then again, maybe he was disgruntled 'cause he went to the wrong school.

The workload is gonna suck no matter where you go. 😀

And often times, you don't really get a choice of where you get to go.
