Would you transfer to another school if it meant higher GPA?

What................................................. No disrespect, but multiple choice will always be easier than 20 step synthesis problems. Also, MO theory is Gen Chem, you need to know it for Orgo sure, but it's expected and usually glossed over in review.

I'll say it again, don't make assumptions. Also, my ochem II course was NOT multiple choice. I did have synthesis problems like that.

My professor did not gloss over MO theory, either. He included it in everything. Guess it was important to him..

I would just make absolutely sure you know what you're getting into and that you know people who have taken the classes you need and seen their tests. Not all state schools have easy Organic classes. Mine was brutal. The absolute worst thing you could do is "transfer down" and still not do well because you overestimated your ability or underestimated the difficulty of the new school.

Still much easier. Our first midterm had one synthesis and the rest were synthesis after.

Well obviously I wouldn't go from Princeton -> UCLA. I have seen the exams, the curves (40 being a B for a MULTIPLE CHOICE/short answer, dummy question Orgo exams) and the level of students. It will be harder to get good grades when my competition all have 34/2500 ACTs/SATs. High school numbers aside, the people who go to my school are all gunners. At state school, they're not ALL gunners. If I did transfer, I'd retake Orgo to be honest. It's so easy at other schools.

Transfer from Princeton if your GPA is low. It will probably improve exponentially.

There's no guarantee that you'll do better regardless of what your peers say about the '"notoriously' easy state school. This is coupled with the fact that you'll likely have better opportunities at you top 20. There's no reason that you should throw away those opportunities for an unlikely chance at a higher GPA.
