WREB in California

Does anyone know the result of the CA board meeting whether they are going to accept WREB in Cali or not?

Last week we were told that California is one step away from accepting the WREB. Apparently, the committee responsible for determining whether or not the WREB is rigorous enough to meet California's standards gave their stamp of approval. Now we are waiting for California to vote and accept the WREB...hopefully soon.

Last week we were told that California is one step away from accepting the WREB. Apparently, the committee responsible for determining whether or not the WREB is rigorous enough to meet California's standards gave their stamp of approval. Now we are waiting for California to vote and accept the WREB...hopefully soon.

The committee officially voted and will now take WREBs. For those in the NY area, NYU will be host to the exam this year (along w/ other schools in the region). This is an email sent to the 4th years here at NYU.

I spoke directly with a MS Marquez at the California Board division of Examination services. She informed me that the California Board has approved the WREB examination as meeting the requirements for clinical licensure in California. In fact this will be retroactive to January 2005.

What does that mean. That means that any NYU senior who takes the WREB examination and passes it will have met the clinical requirements for licensure in California. You would still have to pass two separate written examinations. One is Ethics and the other Laws and Rules. These will continue to be administered by the California Board in Sacramento and are only available as paper versions not on computer.

Cali, here I come!

Us CA dental students are getting pretty tired of the run-around from the CA dental board......according to what our profs tell us, it HAS been accepted by the board to accept WREB, but they are acting very slowly as far as implementation goes (having everything set up next spring for 4th yrs). Very frustrating. Apparently, they really didn't want to accept WREB, but did under great pressure from CDA and CA deans....so they're moving super slow. They don't care.
