Our school is trying to decide which exam to offer next year. We have traditionally been a NERB school. Student demand and administrative frustration with the NERB have brought about this debate. What are people's experience with each exam?

The WREB site lists 33 participating states. However, I assume that it is similar to the NERB where there are several other stats that accept the exam, but do not administer it. Does anyone know how many states will accept a passing WREB score for licensure?

While there is considerable overlap between the two exams in regards to state acceptance, it seems as though these NERB states will not accept the WREB: Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. Does anyone know if I am incorrect about any of these states?

Sorry for all of the questions, but the state dental board web sites are not very informative and often hard to navigate. I am also interested in personal experiences with either exam.

Thanks

Did you get a chance to read my response to your question in the other thread?

I did thanks. I had already looked at those sites. The state board websites are not very user friendly. I was hoping someone had already done the research and would be willing to share so that I didn't have to call around.

I've also heard that the WREB is a better exam than the NERB and that it is easier to pass b/c there aren't as many ridiculous stipulations and was looking for opinions to either confirm or deny these rumors...

If you want to live in a state that is a WREB state or accepts WREB or NERB results, take the WREB. If you want to practice in a NERB state that only accepts NERB, take the NERB.

Avoid the NERB, it's terrible. WREB is much better of an exam. I took WREB and Florida (basically a NERB) and no comparison between the two, WREB was much, much fairer (easier) of an exam.

Yeah I don't think I found a single user friendly website when I was doing my research for licensing. You really need to go to the website of the dental board of the state you plan on practicing in and find the latest information. Things change all the time and you don't want to take an exam that is no longer accepted by the state. A friend of mine took the NERB and later found out that the state no longer took it (they stopped accepting it after my friend had already registered and took the manikin portion of the exam).

ya from what i've heard the WREB is a lot easier. the nicest thing is that modifications are done in the chair, without a need to send your patient away. the only website that has good info about the NERB is:

http://www.nerb.org/b/examiner_training_nerb_b.html

scroll down and you'll find a bunch of powerpoints with different instructions, etc. at the end of the day, you need to pick a state you want to practice in, and then find out what they accept; your doing it backwards by picking the easier exam and finding out what states accept. keep in mind that after 5 yrs you can pretty much practice anywhere (with a few exceptions, FL, DE). good luck

Hi,
I intend to take Florida in November..is it a good ideea? how was your experience? can you give me some advices?
