pretty torn here between these two schools as of now.

Wright State:

-Pros: 3 hour drive from home, students seem very happy, plastic surgery residency program (I am very intersted in ENT and they do a good amount of facial plastics/ reconstruction), I potentially wanna come back to ohio after school not sure yet tho, pass/fail

-Cons: not super great research opportunities (most specialities im interested need a lot of research experience), mandatory lectures not recorded, dayton is okay but compared to being close to NYC for Hackensack it provides less opportunities, internal ranking

Hackensack:

-Pros: 45 minute drive to manhattan (where my girlfriend will most likely be), 3+1 program which will provide me the opportunity to do a lot of research in the 4th year, cool curriculum setup, hackensack hospital system is very good, has a residency program in another field I am intersted in (urology), true pass fail pre clinical.

-Cons: mandatory attendance (seems to be a little longer on day by day basis compared to wright), potentially long drives to rotations, no summer break, no ent residency program (they have a large ENT deparrment just no residency), some internal ranking system during clinical

Can you list what the difference in COA is? Living in Dayton should be cheaper than Hackensack. Nerdwallet says it's 15% more expensive in NJ.

estimate would be around 60K more COA for hackensack.

Comparing with HM 3+1, So you aren't interested in (primary care)

Yeah I am not interested in primary care.

I don't see a similar career advice page for Hackensack that is public. I mean, if you are ENT or bust and not one of the 70% of med students who switch specialties, you probably want Hackensack. Did you ask the Boonshoft students interested in plastic surgery how they do it?

On the page, Boonshoft is upfront about not having an ENT home program. Ask how they support students interested in surgery specialties. I can't find a similar page for HM, so ask what information is given about planning to be an ENT.
