Hi, I know this question has been asked a thousand times. .but I called the AAMC today and the lady said you are NOT allowed to write anything on scratch paper during tutorial. i asked her if this was a new rule change, but she really didn't answer and hung up.

so, for the people who took the mcat recently (like in august) did you have any problem writing during the tutorial? thanks

Fight her. Seriously.

I did this and it helped me to relax MAJORLY. I felt like I could relax my mind and just focus on the test as I no longer had to constantly keep dozens of formulas floating around in my head.

I wrote down formulas during the tutorial. No problems. It was part of my practice routine, but to be honest I never really used them. It was more an exercise in relaxation like Zona said above.

You should ask your testing center.

Just bumping this thread. Does anyone have any solid information about the legality of writing formulas during the tutorial? I mean, from what I can tell it's something that is not considered a huge deal.. But does anyone know for sure?

The last thing I'd want when I take it is for some jerk proctor to write me up for cheating or something.

Well I assure you that it is not illegal, there will be no arrest.😀

If you are worried about it, ask the proctors as you check in.
