writing update letters

is it too soon to be writing update letters to schools telling them i'm interested and still available for an interview? i applied in july.

Depends what you have to say, but in general I would say it probably is. I'd try to wait until you have some grades to show them for this semester, or something equally significant. Updating them to remind them that you're still alive is probably not going to help the cause much.

On the other hand, if you just got back from your mission trip to the Sudan or got your paper published or something, then I think you could send them a note letting them know. Substance!
