Link to case, including expert witness opinion.

53-year-old man presents to ED after right MCA stroke.

Gets tPA, but eventually develops brain swelling.

Taken to OR for right hemicraniectomy, but accidentally does it on the left.

Taken back for the right several hours later after mistake is discovered.

Patient slowly declines and dies several weeks later.

Family sues.

The insurance company should/will not waste a dime on defending it. It is indefensible. Settle, settle, settle.
