According to last year's waitlist thread (cited above), it was the year before last that they had 30 extra people and thus no waitlist movement. It looks like the maximum waitlist movement a year ago occurred over about a two-week period of time starting about 6/22.
My status page changed again today to say that I am Waitlisted.
Ditto on the waitlist and 1st quartile. I wish I knew realistically what my chances are. Good luck to all though!

got rejected...at least closure
I still haven't received my decision from the 1st! I've called three times in the interim. I've been trying not to think about it and focusing on my plans for improvement and reapp.

When I called, "Gary" said he didn't know if there had been any waitlist movement. He added that this had been the main question of the day. Nor was he aware if there had been any withdrawals. He did confirm that the 6/28 interviews were definitely a go. Since that happened a week ago, hopefully the evaluations for those people are now complete and calls can soon be made to some of the waitlistees to fill available spots (if any). Good Luck to everyone patiently waiting to hear some good news.

Well, we are all patiently waiting to hear something. I can give you the information they gave us at the 6/28 interview. The class is overaccepted (or it was at that point). Back in May, they streamlined the waitlist from 200 to around 35 (and had plans to add a few people from our interview group.) Since they had entering classes of over 300 for the past couple of years, they are trying to avoid that situation again. If the class size goes below 300 (even on orientation day), they will call people on the waitlist. I hope this info helps!
I interviewed in May and was waitlisted at the end of June. So I wonder how many people are on the waitlist now. I contacted the admissions office last week and was told that they expect the waitlist to shift around at the end of July.
They originally had 200 people on the waitlist... Now they probably have less than 50.
Does that mean they waitlisted some people and then they rejected them? Approx. 50 total or 50 per quartile?
Of the people on the original waitlist of 200, only ~50 remained. The other 150 were rejected.
I was sent a waitlist letter around the same time after being interviewed on 4/27. I reapplied to UIC for 2008, but am still hoping to get accepted for this year. Does anyone know if reapplying automatically removes your from the waitlist? Good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

I don't think it would affect your waitlist status. Have you heard anything else from the admissions office lately?
I'm also on the waitlist, and I interviewed on 6/28. I found out I was on the waitlist only by checking my status online, so I haven't gotten anything in the mail. Can anyone give me details on what the "1st quartile" is? Did you receive word of this in the mail? Me = confused.
My status page says "Applicant is Wait Listed". I received a letter in the mail saying that I was on the waitlist and in the 1st quartile. The waitlist is divided into quarters, with the 1st quartile = top 25% of the waitlist.
Gotcha. I think a lot of people haven't been contacted by the office via mail. it's weird. Oh well, I'll call and ask. Anyone know just how overbooked they are at the present moment? (They're pretty tight-lipped on the numbers.)
I don't know if anyone's still reading this thread, but I called the office this morning, and apparently the class size is UNDER 300 right now (I had to ask her again, because it seemed to good to be true). I think everyone left is in the first quartile right now, and she said the quartile itself is not ranked, so we all have an equal chance, I suppose. There has been no movement in the waitlist so far, but I'm certain that they will be needing to select some of us to get the class back to 300 (unless they are wanting to keep it under 300 this year... who knows). Anyway, that's the news I have right now. She said they have new updates on waitlist movement on Thursdays, so if anyone wants to call tomorrow and post some new info, that would be helpful to us all. Good luck, everyone!

Congratulations to rcMDbaby who posted an acceptance this week to the UIC-UPR track on the Allopathic Class Threads Sub-Forum.
Not since last week, but I know they are for SURE taking people off the waitlist by the end of this month. (I'm assuming that means this week and next they'll be making calls... exciting!) I've heard from multiple sources that they are currently under their 300-student mark, so we all still have a fairly good chance of getting in. Good luck to all!
I called today. I was told, "There has been no waitlist movement." The other times I called I was told they didn't know if there had been waitlist movement. Anyone get additional information?

Haha, I'm always checking this thing to see if someone has updates. I just called again, too, and was told also that there had been no waitlist movement, but that it would "probably happen either next week or the week after." Wow, getting down to crunch time. I wonder why, if they're underbooked, they wouldn't be calling people immediately. ???
No spots on the waitlist? Or in the class? Because every time I've called, I've confirmed that they have under 300 students. When I ask if they are underbooked, she always says yes. Now I'm just confused... Anyone else wanna call and clarify?

Just called. She just told me that there are indeed over 300 students in the class, which is more than frustrating because on 3 separate occasions they have told me that they are underbooked. When I told her the information I had been given before, she asked who I spoke with, as if it was incorrect all along. I apologize to anyone who happens to still reading this, but I was in no way trying to be deceptive. I heard what I heard.

The waitlist could also not be moving at the moment because they have already filled the open spots and have no more at this point. Also, maybe they are overbooked right now because they accepted more people than spots they had open off the waitlist??
