Actually I looked at my waitlist letter again and it's signed by the "Associate Dean of Student Services and Professional Development" Dr. Anne Cather, so I'm going to address my LOI to her. I'm basically writing about my impressions of the school, why I love the school and want to go there, maybe a little of why I would move to WV (I'm OOS), and then an update about some new research I will be doing. Anything else I should add?

When I talked to BethAnn couple weeks ago, she said that there were 4-5 withdrawals but the committee won't meet until they have more. she said that most withdrawals come during the week of May 15th (not surprsing).
i am planning to call her sometime late this week.
 
I havent really posted much, but I have been following this thread for a while. I am a OOS applicant and interviewed late in the cycle (February). I received a waitlist letter also. I wouldn't mind calling Beth Ann but I don't want to be a disturbance. I was also thinking that it may be more beneficial to call after May 15th.

On the other hand, I have been accepted to another school that starts earlier but WV is my first choice by a landslide. And I would like to know my chances (even though the waitlist is unranked) because that might help my timeline a bit. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

depending on your stats and how many people withdraw- you may be able to get in.
now that i think about it, i'll call her on friday of next week to see when the next meeting is and how many people withdrew.

I'm new to this whole site (well when it comes to actually being a member and able to post). I've been on the waitlist since my interview sometime in March and over the weekend I finally got an acceptance letter!

I was wondering if anyone else in this thread is going to WVU b/c I know not a soul there haha.

And to those still on the waitlist dont let go of your hopes yet.. good luck!

congratulations....what are your stats and where do you live- the reason i ask your location is b/c i want to guess when the mail should come to me if i was to receive anything.

I live in NJ and I got my letter either friday or saturday. What do you mean by stats exactly? Good luck!

By stats, I mean GPA and MCAT

None here. Haven't heard from them in about 6-7 weeks (since the friendly "you are still on the alternate list" letter).

I am calling Dr. Anne Cather tomrorow. I talked to her last week and she told me to call her back on thurs/fri of this week. so that exactly what i'll do.

Same here. I'm guessing their waitlist will take some time to move because they don't rank it.

yes it does...i think last year people heard in mid-june of their acceptance after may 15th.
 
are there any instaet students with GPA lower than 3.0 who got in straight from undergrad?

I know i made two threads already and I apologize for it

Did they say when they'd be mailing it out? I still haven't gotten anything.
 
I made a post earlier about my dilemma. Basically, I have been accepted by another school that starts VERY early (mid june) and I am on the waitlist at WVU. I would MUCH rather matriculate at WVU, it is my top choice.

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on who they think I should call (Mrs. McCormick or Dr. Cather) to explain my dilemma and find out any relevant information I can. Or anything I can do to speed up the process, which could be difficult. Thanks
 
if they mail it on monday-we should start receiving it by Wed....so we'll wait for the mail guy starting Wedenesday.
 
Sorry this took so long to get in here, I received my acceptance letter early last week (like May 9th) but haven't been able to get to a computer while at my brother's wedding. I'm not sure when the next bunch of letters were to be sent out by but it took a week for me to receive the letter from WVU (it was post-marked 2-May). My mailing address live in Michigan.

Good luck everyone else, I really hope you all get in...

They were going to mail it on Monday, which was yesterday. Chances are you won't get it until Wed since you live in PA.

Hey all,

Sorry it took so long to get back to the thread but I'm currently backpacking europe.

I recieved my acceptance letter from WVU on May 19th. It was mailed May 15th. Just to let you know... there's still hope for all of you out there!

I'm still waiting to hear from Georgetown and OHSU (I'm from Oregon) but I've put my $100 down to reserve my spot! 🙂

its getting harder and harder to do...i am a re-app, WVU interviewed me last year and waitlisted me till the very end. there were only six of us left...whats wrong with my app?
i even talked to them b/4 i submitted my app this year and all i got was there were so many app that they couldn't take me in...and what's stopping them this time around?

I just got a rejection letter from Wayne State University after being kept on the WL for several months...it sucks!!!
 
Congrats everyone who got their acceptance. Sounds like there was at least some movement off the waitlist, which is better than none. I'll still be here waiting, hopefully I'll get to post an exciting message if i get off the waitlist.
 
Just to give people a feel of where I am as an out of state applicant as well...

3.50 cumulative GPA 3.48 BCPM 33 MCAT (10 PS 12 VR 11 BS)

Somewhat light on clinical experience (multiple shadows and one summer of hospital volunteering), no research, but lots of extracurriculars (like student govt)

thanks for posting your stats and EC's. It still doesn't answer my question or curiousity as to why they didn't accept me.🙁
