WVU acceptance/waitlist

All I found out was that I was presented to the committee yesterday. Still awaiting any more news...

I am assuming you should get yours by the end of this week or early next week and then after that there'll be few more days until the dean's committee meeting.

Are you sure everyone receives a waitlist letter? One person who interviewed the same day as me (and is in-state with relatively solid credentials) has yet to receive a waitlist letter, which seems like good news considering that others who also interviewed on Jan 31st received waitlist letters the very next day.

I probably had my best interview there, I still have regular correspondance with the interviewer. I have solid stats (3.7/33) and some ties to the state. Jan 29 - > wait list two weeks later. I think everyone after mid jan has got the waitlist.

I would agree that everyone (or almost everyone) OOS has gotten the waitlist letter after January since WVU definitely seems to be much harder on OOS applicants because of WVU's tremendous in-state bias. Trying to equate what WVU has done with OOS applicants with what they've done with in-state applicants seems like an exercise in futility. BTW kyley, which state are you from?

i am not sure if everyone receives the waiting list letter...the only thing i know for sure is that ther adcom reviews and passes the "acceptable" files on to the dean's committee, who then accepts people
 
For anyone who still doesn't know, the dean's committee is meeting this week to finalize WVU's tentative '07 roster. Good luck to all.

If they are meeting this Friday.....Snail mail goes out on Monday...everyone should receive it by the Friday.
 
Apparently from past posts on this thread, they need to have their roster filled by the 15th so letters should go out faster...

No, I never got waitlisted because my application was only reviewed by the admissions committee very close to the final dean's committee meeting.
 
wait are these decisions for the waitlisted ppl comin out again this week? hmmm, i thought we would be put into waitlist drama til may, hopefully some of us get in, anyone know how many seats they are lookin to fill, esp for OOS?
 
I was wondering whether or not WVU or any other university is allowed to give their decisions over the phone.

Were you waitlisted first (is this year included in your "waitlisted the past two years")? If so, when? And since you've been through this more than once, are they going to send update letters to all of us on the waitlist saying "you're still on the waitlist" or "you're now rejected" or "you're now accepted"?

I'm getting nervous...I live over 1000 miles away, so I'm hoping that my mail has just been delayed a little...I REALLY want to get in!

Thanks! I was waitlisted at the end of december, I interviewed in the middle of december. Last year, I interviewed in february and got waitlisted around the middle of March. I dont really remember if they sent update letters last year but I heard that status update letters are being sent today or monday so I assume those who are still in the running will hear something by the middle of next week. Keep your head up!

I haven't received anything in the mail and I live in MN...does that mean I am probably still on the waiting list?

i hope you are right. i have been waiting for two years...last year i was waitlisted in march, and didn't hear a thing until after their classes started. and this year i was waitlisted in late december and am eagerly waiting.

I live in MN, too! Maybe there's just some problem with the mail in this state and our acceptance letters are sitting in holding somewhere at the MSP airport! Too bad we haven't had another blizzard on which to blame the delay. I've been super bummed the past couple days when I check my mailbox.

Why do you want to go to WVU? Are you from around there? I am--Pittsburgh, plus tons of relatives in WV. It's so beautiful there--just let me and Guju in!

hey!

I have a few relatives in Pittsburgh and some in WV. The real reason why i want to go to WVU is that when i went thee for interview....i liked it...it felt like they had most of the things that i was looking for. and also my cousin is attending WVU for her undergrad.

could you post if you hear anything and i'll do the same!

Does anyone know if we will be receiving letters even if we are still on the wait-list, or are letters sent out only if you were accepted?
 
I'm going to call tomorrow morning (since I'm panicking...a little) and I want to hear some news to what the situation is.
 
No one else besides Slindswim has heard anything back from them? That is kind of weird. Perhaps they are lagging in sending out their replies. I haven't heard back either and Beth Ann McCormick said she was going to send out the letter last Thursday or Friday...I'm just frustrated with it taking so long through snail mail...

Has anyone else other than vector2 or Slindswim that was put on the waiting list gotten a response yet?

I got a letter yetserday. I am still on the Alternate/Waitlist. It was dated March 15, so Its a current letter. Its a real bummer, but I guess its not a rejection, right?

Anyways, just wanted everyone to know that letters have been sent out, apparently.

All the best to everyone on the waitlist still.

I haven't heard from BethAnn McCormick either. I sent her an email last week. when i emailed her in the past, i received a response within a day.

im in maryland and i still havent received any letter, it should have gotten to me by now...
 
I live in pittsburgh, and my last name is near the end of the alphabet, so I'm assuming all letters have gone out and are about to arrive. Good Luck!
 
and maybe its a good thing if it takes a while, anyways -- putting together an acceptance package takes a little longer than drawing up a form-waitlist letter.

i dunno. just a thought of encouragement for all those still hoping..
 
let me get this straight...they are sending letters to all the people who have been interviewed...since on this thread there are people who have been rejected, accepted, and are still on the waitlist.
So we should all be receiving something in the mail sometime in the near future.

I live in Michigan and just received my "You're still on the waitlist...but don't committ suicide quite yet" letter today. It was dated March 15, and if I recall from my interview, it took about 6 days to receive my original "You're on the waitlist...but still think you're a super kid!" letter.


Does anyone know if we at least can get the total number of waitlistees? I think they should include that in the update letter along with an attachment entitled "What To Do While You're Waiting: 20 FUN things pre-med students can do to take their minds off of the waitlist!"

I'm still waiting for some notification (one way or another) and I live in Morgantown.... so who knows what's going on. I am quite anxious though. Good Luck to all of you.
