got the letter today, anyone else???

it is for THIS saturday 😱

the interview feedback seems very mixed. what about the 1 person who wrote that one question they were asked they didn't want to repeat?!! :scared: 😕

i am an out-of-state applicant with strong ties to WVU and WV
 
got my letter for an interview at WVU too, recieved mine on sat 17 Sept 2006
 
I talked to the admissions office for WVU and they are having a small interview in September and a large one in November. Apparently the September one is for close-by residents. See you guys in November 😎
 
yes mine is sat too. I guess it is a mix because i am out-of-state with ties and a girl from my class is in-state and she has an interview this saturday as well. I wonder how many they end up interviewing total for the 50 available positions?

did you get a secondary from them before your interview? and if you don't mind me asking how are your stats and when did you submit your app?

my stats are:
3.67 science gpa, 3.60 cGPA

AA 20
bio 23
gc 21
oc 25
TS 23
QR 18
PA 18
RC 15

do you think I have a chance? :scared:
 
Are you serious? Sometimes people on here kill me. Yes you have a great chance, have you done any research on west virginia or are you just trying to get a response from everyone telling you that your scores are great? Go to predents.com and look at WVU's stats.
 
I have an interview this Sat. too and I am out of state (with ties). I received my supplemental application at the end of august and the interview invite a week ago. Your stats look excellent, and compared to the stats of those accepted at WVU I would say yes, you definately have a chance. However, WVU is a land grant institution meaning they give priority to in-state residents and then to out-of-state students w/ ties to the state. I am sure that you are aware of this already, but thought maybe you should take that into consideration too when thinking of your chances. If you have ties to the state your chances will increase even more. Good luck, with those stats i'm sure you will get in somewhere.

Yes I have done research on west virginia and NO i am not just trying to get a response from everyone on my scores. I am concerned due to my really low RC score. thanks for your reply
 
how long is the secondary application? does it just ask for general repetitive questions or is does it also have essays?

Hey busdent,
the secondary application is real basic. Just small details like name, mailing address, etc. There is an essay section on the last page however dental applicants do not need to write it (says in fine print). The interview was GREAT. All the faculty were so friendly and willing to answer all the questions as well as the dental students that were there to represent the school. It was a pretty small interview group though. There were 16 of us. They really tried to convey the whole family atmosphere at WV and that was my impression with all the faculty and students I spoke to. Good luck!

Good to hear that your interview went well. Was this there first interview for 2007 cycle? Also if you don't mind me asking, when did you submit your application?
 
Yes it was their first interview session of the cycle. I submitted my AADSAS around the 15th of June I believe. (somewhere around there, too lazy to go look up the actual date).

i can't remember if i sent you my stats. if you still want them i will send them to you, but i don't want to post them on the site. so, send me a message if you are still interested.

also, if you don't have STRONG ties to WV and/or to WVU i think it is next to impossible to get an interview, let alone accepted. i have good numbers but my ties to the school and to the state are definitely what got me an interview as an out-of-state applicant.

i thought it was very low stress. they had breakfast for us; then we were split into 4 or 5 groups that rotated through a PP presentation, interviews, tour, and a writing exercise/break. the interview was 30 min. with 2 members of the adcom at once. my interview was very much -- question, answer--- they had certain info. they wanted to find out so that left no time for conversational chit chat. i also overheard that the interviewers were meeting after we left to discuss us :scared:

it was also a pretty small group, maybe only 15 people.
 
I called WVU today and you're right my chances aren't so great. The lady was extremely nice and told me that I would have an excellent chance if I was a state applicant but since I am from Ohio, they would have to put my file at the bottom of the list because I have no state ties.

hey, looks like i am getting a secondary from WVU. I was wondering what essay question you're talking about. If it says Dental applicants do not need to write it then why is it even there? and lastly what is the essay question?
 
did you get the secondary because you called? i haven't heard anything form wvu.

I called to make sure they received my DAT scores because the lady had asked me to call. And since I called, I asked if she could tell me anything else about my app. Thaat's when she told me that adcoms requested a secondary and they are sending that out for final review. So calling didn't do anything to get the secondary. But you might want to call anyways to check the status of your app.

Any word from OSU? i haven't heard anything..it's driving me nutss........

I'm still waiting to hear back from them. It's been about a month since I sent the secondary in.
 
Are you a west virginia resident because i heard if you are not then you get placed in the back of the list. Im out of state.
 
approximately what percentage of applicants receive the secondary?

i was told that once they receive the secondary back, you get an answer within 2 weeks.
 
I really want an interview here. I dont have any ties to WVU except for being there a couple times because I went to school in Tennessee

that seems right. i can't really remember, but i know i got an invite to interview shortly after sending in my secondary. again, be aware that you will most likely have VERY little notice about your interview date. i received my invite on a monday and had to be there that saturday!!! 😱
 
do all applicants get a sec application?

I just recieved a thick little book about the school in the mail. It wasnt in an envelope so no interview, did anyone else recieve this? My supplemental has been in now for about a week.

yeah i just got it too. what i received was a wvu catalog.

i think they just sent it to everyone who either applied or got a secondary. case western sent out a catalog to the people who interviewed and nova sent an email saying if you want a catalog feel free to go to X website and download it yourself🙄, so i guess some schools decide to send them out and others don't.
 
case even sent that packet to people who got rejected. 🙁
 
Yeah i got that from case before they rejected me but that was a small info packet. This catalogue would be expensive for the school to send to everyone. I dont know, im just trying to be optimistic. I really want an interview there!
