Hey, anyone else applying WWAMI to Washington this year? Which state? Have you heard anything about interviews or acceptances yet?

I'm a non-traditional student from Wyoming. I graduated from Carleton in MN and then went to grad school in geology before deciding to pursue medicine instead.

My file is complete and I'm waiting to hear back about an interview. Good luck to everyone. I hope to see you next fall in Laramie or later in Seattle!

I am applying from Idaho. I interviewed on Wednesday this week and apparently we were the first group of WWAMI students, and all thirteen of us were from Idaho.

DNicks, I am applying through the WWAMI program this year... as a Wyoming resident. Wyoming residents are interviewed between Feb 14th and Feb 18th. .. It's nice they're accepting 12 this year.

I'm applying from MT. The first set of MT interviews is in January.

Now, maybe this is just a cruel joke.. but a friend of mine says that only folks graduating from the University of Wyoming are accepted into the WWAMI program (for Wyo's 12 slots of course)... I know you can view a list of past students and some attended other undergrad institutions... however, the most recent lists do not name undergrad schools (I believe the last two years)... I realize that the majority of Wyoming WWAMI applicants may have attended the University of Wyoming, hence the high number of Wyo grads matriculating... Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has heard the same...

Also, I believe the interview is supposed to count as 50% of the application with gpa and mcat each recieving 25%... something like that, although there should be room for other ECs and LORs.

Regarding going to U. of Wyoming, I have a feeling that that's wrong. Alaska, nor any other state for that matter, has such a criterion, and I think they'd be really limiting their students (and screwing 'em in the process) if they set that type of requirement

JimmyPA, I also think that's probably not true. I could see the adcom looking a bit more favorably at someone who went to Uwyo because the point of WWAMI is to bring doctors back to your state. A UW grad might be more likely to do that, but I would bet that it doesn't matter much as long as you are interested in coming back to practice in Wyoming. I'm not too worried about it myself. Did you go to school in Laramie?

It does not matter where you went to undergrad.

As for the interviews, I have heard of one WYO applicant who will be interviewing in Feb.
