x-linked recessive vs x-linked dominant

I think the recessive one affects males more than females (because males only have one X chromosome). The dominant one does not necessarily affect males more because le the allele is dominant and will most likely affect the female offspring as well..

X^C X^c does this mean x-linked recessive? or is it just x^c x?
 
Im not sure on those annotations 🙁 im more used to seeing one 'c' on the X so not sure what the first one represents.. Try Dr.Wiki lol.. Btw isnt your test tomorrow? Get some rest!
 
The dominant will appear in every generation, as oppose to recessive probably every other generation. Usually we note that X is affected, and if it is dominant both are affected. At least for woman, for male. They are already affected because they only have 1 X.
 
There is a shortcut for identifying x-linked recessive. If the pedigree shows that the disease mainly shows up in males, and skips a generation, it is most likely x-linked recessive. Do you happen to know any shortcuts for x linked dominant?
