do you think any schools like Yale or Vanderbilt (edit - both probably WAY too much a reach so never mind) are worth a reach add? Or too far off?

or OHSU as i am above their stats even though i dont match their Oregon mission? I would love to stay on the west coast.

Yale and Vanderbilt are fine to add but not OHSU since you are not an Oregon resident.

Do you think my science pub will help at the research focused schools even though im just a mid author? I feel my MCAT and GPA is too low for schools like vandy but my research may interest them

I am working on my own project now that over the next year or maybe a bit more should obtain my own first author pub, but it will definitely be a lower tier journal.
