Lol I don't think you understand how a tax refund works. It doesn't lower your tax rate 😆 It just means the government/your employer took too much out of your paycheck during the year and gives it back to you in a lump sum.Taxes are only ~20% of income, and you get a refund every year.
I do agree that people are overly dramatic about student loan debt for 4 year bachelor's. Especially with REPAYE/IBR programs and loan forgiveness.
